Timber species
Yew
One of the most attractive of all English timbers, yew has a lovely orangey glow to its heartwood, and a contrasting pale creamy sapwood edge.
Technically a softwood, it is amongst the hardest of softwood species. Best used with its waney edge exposed, yew is always popular with furniture makers who use it to make beautiful tables and tableware.
