We're delighted to have been certified by Grown in Britain – which independently audits British-grown timber and its supply chains.

So why does Grown in Britain certification matter?

We’ve always been a bit of an oddball timber company. Most timber businesses source through conventional forestry routes, often supported by certification such as FSC. We work differently.

Our timber comes from trees felled in and around London – trees that might otherwise be chipped or burned, and which don't fit neatly into conventional forestry certification.

So we’ve had to build our own systems. We record where our trees came from, check they were legally felled, and maintain the link between each tree and the boards we mill from it.

Now Grown in Britain has audited what we do and given us their stamp of approval.

That matters because it gives our customers independent verification of the provenance information we already provide. For architects, designers and makers, it means the story behind the timber is backed by a recognised certification system they can reference in their own projects and reporting.

Our business has been built around giving local trees a useful second life. The next step is making that provenance even more visible – so increasingly, customers will be able to see online the story behind the individual boards and furniture pieces they buy from us.
