ABOUT OAK
Oak wood is the mainstay of British furniture making and building, long used for furniture, flooring, panelling and structural beams and trusses. Strong, durable and instantly recognisable, it remains the nation’s most familiar and trusted hardwood.
Oak is at its most striking when quarter-sawn, where prominent medullary rays bring depth and movement to the surface. Heavily figured boards, including pippy and burr oak, are particularly prized for furniture and interior work where character and visual interest are central.
High-quality English oak is becoming increasingly difficult to source, and good material now commands a premium. Alongside native oak, we also value species such as Holm oak and Turkey oak, whose more unusual medullary ray patterns offer a slightly more exotic take on a classic wood.

BUYING OAK FROM US
The oak we sell is not uniform, off-the-shelf timber. Most of it comes from trees felled close to London and milled by us. Every board is different.
As such, we list boards individually rather than selling by generic section sizes. Our live stock list shows each board with its dimensions, price and key characteristics, and is updated as boards are sold.
It's primarily intended for furniture makers, joiners and other trade customers who are comfortable selecting full-sized sawn boards. It enables them see what’s available before getting in touch and helps our small team respond efficiently.
If you’re looking for smaller or finished boards, visit our online shop, where a separate selection is available to buy directly.
We’re happy to provide photos where they help with decision-making. To keep the service manageable, we offer photo requests for selections totalling £150+ and send one set of images per enquiry.
ABOUT US
We mill, dry and prepare the timber ourselves, supplying characterful ash boards for furniture makers, designers and small-batch interior work.
We don’t operate as a conventional timber yard supplying uniform timber in volume.
Our ash is selected and supplied for furniture makers, designers and makers who want the material to play a visible role in the finished piece – whether that’s furniture, interior features or small-batch architectural elements.
