ABOUT WALNUT WOOD

Walnut is one of the most visually striking woods we handle, prized for furniture, shelving and cabinetry where colour and grain are central to the design. It has a natural richness and depth that few other native species can match.

English walnut typically shows lighter, more varied heartwood with swirling figure and pale sapwood, while black walnut is darker and more uniform in tone. Both work well, taking a refined finish and ageing gracefully over time.

We source walnut from trees felled in and around London, often from private gardens, which makes good boards relatively rare. As a result, walnut remains one of the most sought-after – and highest-value – UK hardwoods we supply.
