ABOUT HORNBEAM

Hornbeam wood is one of the hardest native hardwoods grown in the UK. Almost white, like alabaster, hornbeam has no discernable rings or grain.

When allowed to spalt, it develops distinctive surface patterning, with dark lines and tonal variation set against its pale base colour. This combination of hardness and visual character makes spalted hornbeam particularly attractive to furniture makers and designers.

Our spalted hornbeam wood is sourced from trees felled in and around London, and supplied as rough sawn boards for trade use.
