ABOUT SYCAMORE
Sycamore wood is typically creamy white in colour, often lifted by gentle swirling grain and occasional hints of orange or green. It has a fine, even texture and a natural brightness that makes it particularly well suited to furniture where surface quality and detail matter.
Hard and stable, sycamore wood machines cleanly and takes a smooth finish, whether worked by hand or by machine. Quarter-sawn boards are especially prized, revealing strong medullary rays that add movement and character without overwhelming the form.
The sycamore we supply is milled from trees felled in and around London. Availability tends to be limited, and well-figured boards – particularly quartered boards – are always in demand and tend to sell quickly.
