ABOUT YEW WOOD

Yew wood is a highly characterful British material, best appreciated when its natural form is left visible. The contrast between rich orange heartwood and pale sapwood gives each board a distinctive edge, particularly where the waney edge is retained.

Although technically a softwood, yew behaves more like a hardwood in use. It is dense, durable and wears well, making it well suited to furniture and tableware where both strength and appearance matter, and its fine texture allows it to take a clean finish and deepen in colour over time.

We mill yew from trees felled in and around London . Availability is limited, and well-figured boards are consistently sought after by furniture makers.
