We’re excited to see people enjoying these architect-designed seating clusters which are now in place in 11 outdoor sites across the City of London. We made all the 50 wooden seats from fallen London trees which would otherwise have been destroyed. Oak, elm, yew, hornbeam, sycamore maple and more – all enjoying a valued second life.

The seating clusters were designed by architects Butler Wiltshire who wanted to combine local repurposed timber rather than imported alternatives with sculptured terracotta bases. To keep the seats in tip top shape (despite the English weather!) we’ll be giving them a quick once-over every six months – filling, sanding and re-varnishing as necessary.

The seating project has been delivered by the City of London Corporation in partnership with EC BID (Business Improvement District). The terracotta seats are hand crafted by Darwen Terracotta.
