To start early October 2026 – applications welcome now
Fallen & Felled is looking for a furniture maker with at least three years’ professional experience, including substantial experience working with solid hardwood, to join our small workshop team in Camden.
This is a rare opportunity to join a business that is helping rethink how fallen urban trees are used. We rescue remarkable trees that would otherwise often be chipped or burned, mill and season them ourselves and give them a new life as beautiful English hardwood and furniture.
Our Camden workshop creates a wide range of tables, desks, benches, worktops and bespoke furniture from the trees we recover. We’re now looking for a talented maker who wants to become an important part of what we do.
The role
You’ll work alongside our Workshop Manager and small team, making predominantly bespoke furniture from solid English hardwood. No two trees are quite the same and neither are many of our projects.
You’ll be involved throughout the making process – selecting and machining rough-sawn boards, interpreting technical drawings, solving construction challenges, assembly and finishing.
You’ll be a confident and capable maker who can work independently, safely and at a good commercial pace without compromising quality. You’ll be comfortable taking ownership of a project while also enjoying the exchange of ideas that comes from working in a small team.
As the role develops, there’ll be opportunities to work directly with customers on bespoke commissions and build your skills in quoting and managing projects from enquiry through to completion.
We’re also developing a more repeatable range of Fallen & Felled furniture, so there’ll be plenty of opportunity to contribute ideas about processes, workflow and efficient small-batch production.
What we’re looking for:
- At least three years’ professional furniture-making experience, including substantial experience working with solid hardwood Experience making bespoke furniture and one-off pieces
- Confidence using woodworking machinery, power tools and hand tools safely and efficiently
- Ability to read technical drawings and take furniture through machining, construction, assembly and finishing
- Strong practical problem-solving skills
- High standards of craftsmanship while working to commercial timescales
- Good organisation and time-management skills
- A positive, collaborative attitude and genuine interest in sustainability, timber and making
- The physical capability to handle large, heavy hardwood boards safely
- You’ll need to live within a reasonable commuting distance of our Camden workshop
What you’ll find at Fallen & Felled
This isn’t a production-line furniture job. You’ll work with extraordinary timber – often from trees with remarkable London provenance – and on projects where the material itself is an important part of what we make.
We’re a small, ambitious business with a strong reputation and plenty of ideas about where Fallen & Felled can go next. We’re looking for someone who wants to grow with us.
We believe good teams are strengthened by different experiences, skills and backgrounds, and we want Fallen & Felled to be a welcoming place where talented people can do their best work.
Interested?
Please send your CV to hello@fallenandfelled.co.uk, along with a short note explaining why you think you’d be a good fit for the role and, if available, a portfolio or examples of furniture you have made.
Please tell us where you live and whether you would be able to reliably commute to Camden five days a week.
We are looking for someone to start in early October. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive, so early applications are encouraged.
Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
