JOB SUMMARY

About us
At Fallen & Felled, we give London’s fallen trees a second life - transforming them into beautiful timber and furniture. We’re a small, hands-on team that takes pride in craftsmanship, sustainability and working with some of the finest English hardwoods. As we grow, we need to make our stock management more sophisticated and efficient – and that’s where you come in.

The Role
This is a dual role that combines hands-on timber handling with developing and improving our stock tracking and online sales. You’ll spend part of your time physically working with large hardwood boards, but you’ll also be responsible for ensuring our stock is accurately catalogued on our computers, listed for sale online and easy to track.

We need someone who is methodical and detail-oriented, comfortable using basic stock systems, but also happy to work independently in a hands-on environment and handling rough-sawn timber.

Key Responsibilities

  • Timber handling and organisation – safely move and handle hardwood boards, both indoors and outdoors in our timber yard.
  • Introduce stock labelling – label and catalogue our extensive timber stock, working closely with our team to ensure every board is graded and accurately described.
  • Manage customer enquiries and sales – help customers and our furniture making team find the right timber, respond to online and in-person requests.
  • Online sales development – photograph and list timber boards for sale on our website.
  • Build and maintain our stock database – build a digital record of all our stock, making it easier to track, sell and manage.
  • Order fulfillment – pick, pack and dispatch orders for collection or delivery.
  • Timber machining – cut boards to size and thickness sawn timber to expose natural grain.
  • Collaboration with marketing & sales - work with our Marketing Manager to showcase stock creatively and develop online sales opportunities.

Essential Skills & Qualities

  • A strong interest in timber and woodworking – whether from personal projects, furniture making or a workshop background.
  • Detail-oriented & methodical – you enjoy organising, labelling and creating systems.
  • Competence with computers – experience with spreadsheets (Excel) and some experience managing large numbers of data records.
  • A self-starter mindset – able to work independently and solve problems proactively.
  • Confidence in manual handling and comfortable working in a warehouse environment and sometimes outdoors.
  • Able to use power and hand tools and come up with solutions to practical everyday challenges.
  • Customer-focused – friendly and confident in helping customers find what they need.
  • A confident and enthusiastic communicator – keen to share information and work as a team.
  • Driving licence and transport – our yard is in RM14 3TL.

Useful Skills & Experience

  • Experience of DIY, furniture-making, workshop or construction industry.
  • Experience setting up or improving stock management systems.
  • Experience working with sales and marketing functions to develop sales.
  • A passion for sustainability.
  • Forklift driving experience.

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a skilled and passionate team in growing, carbon-negative business that’s helping reduce the UK’s reliance on imported hardwoods.
  • Help shape and improve how we manage stock as we grow.
  • Enjoy a role that blends hands-on work with process improvement and problem-solving.
  • Gain knowledge and receive training and skills development.
  • Work hands-on with the best of English timbers, nature’s finest.
  • Enjoy working in a collaborative atmosphere where your ideas matter.

Who this role is for (and who it’s not for)

This role IS for you if you love working with timber, enjoy organising stock and improving systems, and like a balance of hands-on and computer work.

This role is NOT for you if you’re only looking for a desk-based stock management job or prefer an entirely physical role with little computer element.
