solid wood dining tables

Handmade in London from English hardwood.

Every table begins with a tree - rescued from a London street, a woodland clearing, or an English estate. Milled by us, seasoned for over a year, hand-finished in our Camden workshop. No imports. Just English hardwood with a story.

A slice of history

What you make of a tree should be every bit as wonderful as what you cut down

Choose your style

This page is about live edge dining tables - tables where the natural, irregular edge of the timber is part of the design.

We also make single slab tables and straight edged solid wood tables if you'd prefer a different style.

Straight edge

A traditional straight edged table made from selected solid hardwood joined boards.

Live edge

Three or more boards from the same tree, joined to create a wide top with a natural, solid waney edge.

Single slab

One unbroken piece of timber. Every slab is different, and choosing yours is part of the experience.

Or if you know what you want...

eNGLISH HARDWOOD OPTIONS

Our live edged dining tables are available in the following English hardwood options – each one milled and seasoned by us.

London Plane

The majestic symbol of London's streets. Wide boards, subtle grain, warm golden tone that deepens with age.

Elm

Increasingly rare and deeply characterful. Warm browns and dramatic grain patterns that make every board unique.

Oak

The classic English hardwood. Dense, durable and endlessly variable in tone and figure.

Walnut

English grown and rarely available. Rich, dark and luxurious, with a depth of colour that's hard to match.

Slab table customers can choose their own piece of timber - visiting our yard in Essex to find the one that's right for them.

about slab tables

select your base

We offer three standard leg options for our live edged dining tables – a classic trapezoidal metal option and two wooden options, each using the same wood as the table top.

Steel trapezoidal

We offer three standard leg options – a classic trapezoidal metal option and two wooden options, each using the same wood as the table top.

Wooden block

Solid timber legs that keep the whole table in one material. Warm and considered.

Trestle

A slightly more open wooden base. Elegant and well suited to longer tables where a lighter visual presence works better.

your table size

We make tables in a range of sizes to suit most dining rooms and kitchens.

Each table is rectangular, shaped around the natural dimensions of the slab.

Most of our slabs make tables between 180cm and 320cm long and 80cm to 110cm wide. Slabs are typically 40-60mm thick – noticeably more substantial than a jointed top.

Just tell us the size you need when you enquire.

the perfect finish

We finish most dining tables in a hard-wearing natural oil — it deepens the grain and ages beautifully. For busier households, a clear lacquer offers a tougher, easier-to-clean surface.

We'll advise on the right option when we talk.

Natural beauty, honestly made

We work with real English trees — each one different, each one with a history. Knots, grain variation and natural character are part of what makes every table unique, not flaws to be hidden.

Where timber has cracks or voids, we can fill them with resin or add bowtie inlays — both functional and beautiful. Just let us know what you'd like when you enquire.
